Hi! I’m Nick.

Funny how from simple things, the best things begin.

The X-Mini Max 2 Portable Speakers

After getting introduced to the X-Mini portable speakers by my colleague, Arsyan, I spent the next month just pondering if the value equaled the cost of the accessory. Rarely do I fall into the impulse buy trap, especially if it's geek gear.

After a month, I felt that it was a justified purchase. I could use it when I'm outdoors, in my bathroom, at Starbucks, etc. Heck, even when Im on my PC - so I didn't need to unplug my speakers and connect it to my iPhone. Also, I thought it would be great for my audiobook playbacks.

Boy, am I right. I went to the store and got the X-Mini Max 2 - the latest model by the Singaporean company. Lasting 14 hours, with great treble and average bass, it's indeed one good purchase at only RM179. Comes in 3 colours: dark red, black, and white. My audiobooks sounds better than ever, of course my music as well compared to the stock inbuilt speakers of the phone.

Just a precaution: the speaker comes with special cables, if one was to lose this cable, I don't think you can purchase a spare. I intend to write to the company and find out.

10 Things I Want In My Lifetime

So recently I got together with some friends and well, we talked about life. What are the 10 things you'd like in life. Well, here's mine;
  1. Be a good digital strategist.
  2. Learn to cook lobster bisque and mom's Ar Char recipe perfectly.
  3. Live to see/experience quantum computing, a new source of energy (fusion), the advancement of humanity in space, the end of Malaysia's racial politics, and the benefits of the large hadron collider.
  4. Be knowledgable enough to publish industry white papers of objective quality.
  5. Tour an international zone on humanitarian efforts for a minimum of 3 months.
  6. Open a soup kitchen.
  7. Provide mom the perfect golden age she deserves.
  8. Marry someone that is passionate in her core interest, opinionated, spiritual, spunky, and thinks of money as a reward and not the reason.
  9. Survive raising my children.
  10. Never to get jaded and fall into complacency.
What are yours?

ruumzcauses-launch-at-bijou-vdBczeuhtwlhtgGyJfaB.zip (12855 KB)

On Feb 4, our team gathered in the early morning to prep up for the launch of ruumzCauses at Bijou, Mont Kiara Damai, Kuala Lumpur. Over many months of hard work culminated to today. We invited bloggers, media journalists, writers, celebrities, ambasadors, and the admirable people from the charity organisations to be part of this launch.

ruumzCauses is one of our big projects, it is our obligation to ethics & responsibility as a citizen, as a human-being. We wanted to help and we wanted to fight against the people that mocked charity by engaging in fraudulent scams in times of dire need. So we came up with an easy-to-use online system that was transparent to the public - we will be engaging an international audit firm.

I thought the launch was pretty good - a fun casual event; yet debonair, the theme was praised, and from the feedback we got, it looks like were on track to make a good difference, all together.

JEN-ii Tablet by MIMOS Malaysia

Arysan, Alex and I had a close look and feel of the new MIMOS JEN-ii - a tablet PC aimed at the non-techy Market. We personally feel it's a great idea, to make things simple and connect people to the information age. But this piece of doodoo isn't at all easy or useful. With a 5 to 8 minute load time and applications that are practically useless, I think it misses the target. Check out the vid and pics.
