Your Experience with P1 WIMAX Broadband
Ever since I started working (indirectly) for the fastest growing WIMAX network in Malaysia, Packet One (P1), I've gotten my share of questions from family and friends interested about the service - coverage, how to get a better signal, packages, etc. Especially since I manage a casual online gaming community, celestialorder.net - I do get an average 2-7 queries a day regarding P1.
It's also a chance for me to get feedback. Of course I want P1 to succeed in everyway possible, but I'm not zealous to be blindsided by the shortcomings of the service. I've gotten both good and bad comments and I wondered how's it fairing at a larger scale. Thus, the poll below. I'd like to know your comments as well. If you have any questions or problems, I'd like to hear them, perhaps in some small way I can help you. Please note that this isn't an official P1 poll, it's a personal endeavour.
My personal experience with P1 has been more than satisfactory. I'm currently on the home plus package (RM99) since April this year, at first I got a few disconnects at night, after a month or so the problems stopped. That's when I decided to ditch StreamyX. Up until now I can download up to 180KBs, after I reach my 20GB cap I get throttled to 55KBs. Video streaming doesn't require me to pause and buffer the movie. When the movie loads, it plays until the end. Browsing? No problem. Online gaming though does suffer higher than normal ping. If I got 80ms on StreamyX, I get about 200ms on P1. Not ideal, but hey, it's not like the bulk of my online time is gaming anyway. But when I do game with my pals overseas, I wished it was better.
